This week’s state visit by the Philippines president marks a new beginning for China – Philippines relations.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte agreed their two countries will set aside differences over the South China Sea and work together to improve bilateral ties.

The two sides signed 13 agreements, covering trade and the economy, infrastructure, the fight against illegal drugs and maritime cooperation.

To discuss the state of China-Philippines relations is CCTV’s Wang Tongxuan in Beijing.
