The last couple of months of the year 2015 are the busiest period for retail in Brazil. It’s usually a good time to find temporary work in shops. But this year prospects are not good as consumers struggle with the deepening economic crisis.

It’s the worst job outlook for seasonal workers in seven years. Sao Paulo’s Federation of Commerce estimates a drop of 40% in temporary job openings compared to 2014-plummeting to 15,000 people from 25,000.
