France's National Front sees opportunities following Trump's US victory

Following Donald Trump's victory, France is bracing for a possible political shake up of its own. CCTV America's Kate Parkinson reports from a town where the party is on the rise.

In the U.S., it was rust-belt voters that propelled Donald Trump into the White House.

Boosted by Trump’s surprise victory, France’s far-right leader Marine Le Pen, who is already riding high in the polls – believes she has a serious chance of becoming France’s next president.

The center-right Republican Party started the process of electing their presidential nominee this weekend.

Immigration and terrorism concerns are already dominating the campaigns. After five years of Socialist rule, France appears to be veering sharply to the right.

Polls have consistently shown that Le Pen will make it to the final round run-off in next May’s presidential vote. But they predict that it would be difficult for her to win.
