It’s been decades of coming up short for both teams – and decades of misery for local fans.

The Cubs haven’t won the World Series since 1908, the Indians since 1948. No two teams have waited longer to win another World Series.

CCTV America’s Roza Kazan reports the story.

The Game has just begun. And Chicago Cub Fans hope tonight is going to mark the beginning of the end of the drought that’s lasted more than a century.

For the Windy City, home of Chicago Cubs, it’s an especially bitter sweet moment. Time, many here believe, to finally lift the so-called Billy Goat Curse.

The legend has it – the curse comes from tavern owner William “Billy Goat” Sianis. Stopped at the gate before Game 4 of the 1945 World Series because of his goat – he predicted the Cubs will never win another World Series again.

Until now, the curse has held – but this time fans hope the curse is finally over. Even though the Cubs lost on the first game, it’s not over till it’s over.
