The polls have closed in Hungary and an overwhelming majority of Hungarians who voted in Sunday's referendum have rejected European Union migrant quotas. But a low turnout means the result may not be valid. CCTV's Kate Parkinson reports from Budapest.

It was not exactly the result that Prime Minister Viktor Orban was hoping for. An overwhelming majority of Hungarians who voted did heed the government’s call to reject the European Union’s migrant quotas.

A whopping 98 percent of people voted ‘no’.

It seems most voters agreed with their Prime Minister that the EU’s plan was a threat to Europe’s security.
