New developments in the shooting death of a black man by police in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. New cell phone video has been released by the family, after police said they would not release their video during the investigation. CCTV America’s Hendrik Sybrandy reports.

Rakeyia Scott narrates and records the fatal encounter between her husband Keith and Charlotte Police on Tuesday. Keith Lamont Scott was in his truck outside their apartment complex when police said officers who were in the area saw him holding a gun.

Police, who were there to serve a warrant on someone else, order him to drop his weapon. But it’s not clear from this video whether he had one. But Scott was dead.

The incident has sparked nights of protests and looting in Charlotte. Dozens have been arrested; one man was shot and killed during the unrest.

The anger in Charlotte’s African-American community has left a city on edge.

The prayer vigil gave way to a boisterous march through downtown streets. Lots of yelling but no unrest like the night before.

Eventually, the crowds were ordered to disperse. The scenes were recorded live on cell phones which were everywhere.

The trust between police and the community is shaky at the moment because of what happened there. An overnight curfew is now in place as officials try to restore calm after several very difficult days.
