At Star Trek convention, swag boldly goes where it hasn't beforeThe Star Trek Convention is a hot ticket in Las Vegas this weekend and thousands of Trekkies are there celebrating their fandom. One way of doing that is collecting Star Trek merchandise.
For a Trekkie, it’s like being a kid in a candy store. Every kind of Star Trek merchandise that you can imagine is available.
There are Star Trek dolls, Star Trek plates, Star Trek beer, and even Star Trek alien healing crystals.
Dan Golden sells Nevalite crystals from his mines in Nevada that are allegedly out of this world.
If crystals aren’t your thing, then MAC cosmetics is featuring its special 50th anniversary Star Trek collection.
“MAC’s motto is all ages, all races, all sexes which is complete alignment with what the federation is all about,” MAC Global Senior Artist Ashely Rudder said.
For the most authentic wardrobe for Star Trek cosplay, Anovos is the place to go.
“We came into the business really wanting to replicate every thread, every color, replicate every stitch if we could of the original uniform,” Anovos CEO Joe Salcedo said.
That effort will cost you. The premium version of this uniform from the film “Wrath of Khan” is a whopping $3,500.
The sticker shock has little effect on die-hard Trekkies.
“Oh my God. But it’s worth it,” said one fan who bought the uniform.
And of course, no Star Trek collection is complete without a lovable Tribble from the original series episode, “The Trouble with Tribbles.”
