At the Museum of Broken Relationships in Los Angeles, crowd-sourced objects of failed love highlight what it means to cope with romantic loss.

The Hollywood museum opened in June and mirrors the theme of the first Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia, by artists Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić.

CCTV America’s May Lee visited the museum to find out why breakups are so appealing to the public.

“Whatever the motivation for donating personal belongings – be it sheer exhibitionism, therapeutic relief, or simple curiosity, people are challenged to embrace the idea of exhibiting their love legacy as a sort of ritual, a solemn ceremony,” the Museum writes.
