Since the Syrian civil war began, millions have fled the country becoming refugees except for a large number of displaced people inside Syria.

“There were 260 families of 1,500 people in the beginning. The center provides all needs for them, including medical treatment and food,” Muhammad Deeb, manager of the Shelter Center said of the shelter.

It was used to be a primary school, but now, this school shelter is a new home for more than 2,500 people.

“Three years ago, I left my home. Our lives here are fine after being taken here,” Samira, a displaced resident said.

“The medicine is provided by Damascus government and the quality and quantity is okay and almost enough. Health conditions in this center is under control but contagious disease might increase in the summer,” Omar, one of the shelter’s doctors said.

The school shelter also provides daily food for refugees.

“If terrorists agree, of course we’ll come back. We were born there, that’s our hometown. We were born there,” Samira added.
