UK looks to Australian for inspiration for immigration reform

Immigration is on the frontline of issues for many in Britain, when it comes to leaving the European Union. And some are now looking to Australia for an example.

Experts said the Aussie system has helped the island state to become an immigrant rich country.

CCTV’s Greg Navarro has the details from Sydney.

Australia receives about a million inquiries each year from potential migrants, and ends up accepting about 200,000 people or 20 percent.

That’s one of the highest migration rates in the world.

Experts say Australia has put a greater focus on the points based system over the past few decades.

And made it harder for families to join loved ones already living there which they say can often make the transition to another country easier.
