About a quarter of the Earth’s surface is covered by 40 million square kilometers of deserts. More than 110 countries and about 1 billion people around the world have been affected by desertification. On June 17th, the world will mark the day to combat desertification and drought.

Serbia became China’s first strategic partner in 2009.

Both countries are working closely to integrate China’s Belt and Road Initiative with Serbia’s re-industrialization strategy.

They signed a memorandum to tap potential on cooperation in energy, finance, telecommunications, and agriculture.
