Brazil’s Interim Pres. proposes moves to help ease economic crisis

World Today

In Brazil, the Interim President Michel Temer has announced his first measures to try and bring the country back from a crippling recession.

It’s a tall order and a challenge that can’t be overcome overnight. But for those hit hard by economic hard times, improvement can’t come soon enough.

CCTV America’s Paulo Cabral reports.

Interim President Michel Temer announced they will propose a constitutional amendment to create a cap to public spending and aimed at re-balancing the country’s accounts in the long term.

Most market analysts and business associations described Temer’s measures as a step in the right direction.

But trade unions and social activists say it’s a way to cut funding for health, education, and social programs while only deepening the recession. Brazil’s political divide continues to grow as the economy gets weaker.
