Children have been the most affected by the Syrian war – nearly 1.5 million Syrian refugee children are in Turkey and over 500,000 of them are out of school, according to United Nation figures.

Launched by UNICEF and funded by the European Union, the “My Life: Language Classes and Advanced Life Skills Learning Center for Girls” in the southeastern city of Sanliurfa is dedicated to Syrian refugee girls aged 6-25.

The center also admits Turkish adolescent females as well and hopes to integrate Turkish and Syrian children. The activities are designed to contribute to the self-learning and developments of the students.

The center also provides psychological counseling services as the Syrian conflict has left thousands of children traumatized.

As the Syrian conflict enters its’ sixth year and millions remain displaced the future of refugee children is critical. While thousands of refugee children still have no access to education centers like “My Life” may become even more vital.
