The International Olympic Committee retested 454 blood samples taken from athletes during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Using technology not available eight years ago, they determined that 31 of those athletes from six sports tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.

CCTV America’s Jim Spellman has the details.

The first round of testing focused on athletes that are likely to participate in the upcoming Rio Olympics. All athletes found to have violated IOC anti-doping rules will be banned from the games.

Olympics officials are also testing 250 samples from the 2012 London games.
