First-quarter earnings for the parent unit of KFC, Yum Brands, has beat expectations. Earnings amounted to 95 cents per share while the operating profit grew 21 percent, with most of it coming from its China business.

Global revenue came in at $2.6 billion, with China accounting for most of it with 12 percent sales growth for KFC.
