Art imitates real life in a new movie from Venezuela

A Venezuelan director has chosen his home country as the set for his “doomsday” movie depicting the end of the world.

Directed by Flavio Pedota, the movie is called “Infection” and is about a disease outbreak threatening to destroy life.

Correspondent Stephen Gibbs travels to Maracay, Venezuela where “Infection” is being filmed. He goes behind-the-scenes to talk to director Flavio Pedota and some of his cast and crew.

“Infection” serves as an example of how a few independent filmmakers in Venezuela are managing to make movies in the midst of shortages of food, goods and rampant crime. “Infection” is scheduled to be released in Venezuela, next year.
