World closely watches China’s economic numbers

Global Business

After weeks of mixed economic data China’s economy is showing signs of stabilizing. GDP grew 6.7 percent in the first 3 months of the year, in line with market expectations.

CCTV America’s Roee Ruttenberg reports.

Despite the figure being slightly lower in the final quarter of 2015 – and the lowest in seven years – the numbers are well within the government target of 6.5 percent growth for 2016.

Key indicators such as new credit, industrial output and retail sales have all picked up. Services also contributed a lot to GDP, accounting for nearly 57 percent.
