India modernizes railways with “semi-high speed” train upgrade

India’s railways are getting much awaited upgrade to modernize and improve its system.

This is the start of a journey for India to modernize its railways, which are in urgent need of upgrades.

The new train has been modified thoroughly, adding bio-toilets, a GPS-passenger information service, automatic sliding doors in coaches and an entertainment system.

The train ride costs anywhere between $11 and $22 to reach Agra, the destination known for Taj Mahal, a major tourist attraction in India. The Indian government is working on modernizing its railway network, which includes introducing bullet trains.
