Cubans react to renewed relationship with the US

Americas Now

On March 21st President Barack Obama becomes the first U.S. president to travel to Cuba in more than 80 years.

The U.S. President has said the decision to normalize relations between the U.S. and Cuba came after reaching the conclusion that fifty years of isolation was not leading to progress.  Both he and Cuban President Raul Castro agreed that engagement between their nations would be more productive.

One of the events on the U.S. President’s itinerary this week is to meet with Cuban entrepreneurs and private business owners. It’s an effort to strengthen the economic alliance between the two countries.

President Obama hopes his visit will help show respect for Cubans.

But what do the Cuban people think of President Obama? And their future relationship with the United States?
