Every year millions of migrant workers seek their fortune in the Pearl River Delta, an economic hub in South China. Many migrants view their work as a chance to earn money and return home to become entrepreneurs.

Cao Bin hails from Pinyuan County, 350 kilometers (217 miles) from Shenzhen, where he lived and worked for a decade. He returned home in 2005 to open an orchard. Meanwhile, hundreds of kilometers away, a Guangzhou online fruit shop that opened a year ago has helped more than 20 farmers such as Cao sell their products online.

Last year, China’s State Council issued several opinions to encourage 300 million migrant workers to start businesses, which will help development in rural areas as well as enhance agricultural development.
