China’s first anti-domestic violence law took effect earlier this week. It is seen as an important step the country has taken to protect the rights of women, children, and senior citizens. The law also streamlines the process of obtaining restraining orders.

CCTV America’s Susan Roberts interviewed Liu Huawen, the Secretary-General of the Center for Human Rights Studies at the China Academy of Social Sciences about how this new law can better protect people.
