Analyst Milad Jokar on Iran’s elections

World Today

There was heavy voter turnout during Iran’s elections. Voters cast their ballots for the Parliament and Assembly of Experts. Polling hours were extended three times but have now closed.

The Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei cast his vote early. He encouraged everyone to vote to boost Iran’s honor and strengthen its independence.

Reformists are hoping to make gains against conservative dominance. Results for the Assembly of Experts are expected over the weekend.

The parliamentary election could take longer and will probably go to a second round.

CCTV America spoke to political analyst Milad Jokar, a visiting lecturer on Middle East affairs at the Normandy Business School in France.
