The Heat: A look at Boko Haram

The Heat

Deadlier than Daesh? Nigeria’s Boko Haram is responsible for more deaths than ISIL, and receives less international attention. But why?

Militant Islamist sect, Boko Haram, is proving it’s still alive and vicious, contrary to claims by the Nigerian government.

Nigeria’s military said it has succeeded in pushing back the insurgents, and that they are no longer a threat. Boko Haram, though, has punctured that claim with another devastating attack on unarmed civilians. Two female suicide bombers killed dozens in a camp for internally displaced persons.

A camp set up to shelter Nigerians from Boko Haram’s violence.
