Iran ushers in new era without bulk of western sanctions

Iran’s President sent out tweets celebrating the moment the bulk of western sanctions ended for his country. Hassan Rouhani met with the UN’s top nuclear inspector hours after Tehran was told it had fulfilled promises to pacify its nuclear program.

That means trade in things like aircraft can resume in full with most western countries, and President Rouhani will mark this new era with visits to France and Italy next week.

European firms have spent months laying the groundwork for new deals with Iranian counterparts, but the U.S. position is more complicated and it put new sanctions in place over an Iranian missile test, while lifting others.

That also complicates life for American companies.
