The Heat: ISIL and its growing global threat

Islamic Extremism

As many as 10 million people are now believed to be living under the control of the Islamic State.

And, as ISIL linked terrorist attacks spread across the globe this year, there is increasing international concern about the radical group’s growth and deadly impact.

CCTV America’s John Gilmore reports.

To discuss ISIL and why it is now considered a major global threat, The Heat was joined by:

  • Jurgen Todenhofer, a German journalist and author who spent ten days embedded with ISIL last year in Iraq and Syria.
  • Tawfik Hamid, a former member of an Islamic militant group and he’s the author of “Inside Jihad.”
  • Lorenzo Vidino, the director of the Program on Extremism at The George Washington University.
