Justin Trudeau, the new Prime Minister of Canada, is sworn into office more than two weeks after a convincing election win. His economic plan ousted former prime minister Stephen Harper, ending nearly a decade of conservative rule.

He touted a tax cut aimed at two parent households with a single income. His move to stay the course on a balanced federal budget drew criticism, especially since Bank of Canada moved twice this year to cut rates in order to stimulate the economy.
