UEFA’s Infantino enters race to be FIFA president

So far, there are eight candidates formally in the running to replace Ex-FIFA president Sepp Blatter when elections are held in February next year.

And it would appear that European football has acted swiftly to ensure it has a candidate in the the race following the suspension of UEFA President Michel Platini.

UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino has entered the running just hours before the deadline. With Michel Platini’s hopes for a presidential run threatened by his FIFA suspension, the move ensures that European football’s governing body will at least have a candidate.
