In the digital age, more and more companies are giving into the idea of telecommuting, where people can work remotely instead of commuting to an office.

While these online jobs are relatively new in South American nations like Colombia, officials believe it is a way to create new jobs. Colombia’s Ministry of Communication wants to take telecommuting a step further and create an opportunity for people living in prison.

  • The pilot program has been set up in four different jails across the country.
  • Over the next year, the ministry hopes to have at least 100 inmates graduate from the online jobs course.
