Cuban software designers outsourcing skills to US

The Obama administration recently announced a further loosening of the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba. American businesses can now import Cuban designed mobile phone applications and hire Cubans to develop them.

Cuba has one of the lowest levels of internet penetration in the world. Most computers there are old and much of the software is pirated.

But as CCTV’s Michael Voss reported, that hasn’t deterred young software developers from outsourcing their skills abroad.
