Group sets up recommendations to boost China\'s exports

China is trying to help its photo-voltaic industry better export to other countries by setting up a list of recommended products and producers. China's PV industry has been having a tough time with trade disputes in the U.S. and Europe.

Some of China’s biggest PV export clients are Japan, India and some African countries. Emerging markets are growing too. However, exports are facing trouble: volatile exchange rate fluctuations around the globe have weakened the demand for PV products. Some countries like the U.S. and Canada are imposing punitive duties on Chinese PV products to protect their own PV manufacturers. The export numbers weren’t good in the first half, shrinking 6 percent compared to last year. At a recent PV forum in Shanghai, an executive of a government-backed industry organization says they will also try to help China’s PV products sell more overseas.

The PV organization says costs for the third-party assessment for PV product quality will not be charged to the companies themselves. The organization is also to help negotiate and settle trade disputes over PV products with other countries. China exported $6.2 billion U.S. dollars of PV products between January and June this year.
