Seventy years ago, after fighting and losing two world wars in 30 years, Germany was a defeated nation in the heart of Europe.

But, Germany gradually re-emerged and became an economic powerhouse. Today, with a population of 82 million, it’s a dominating force among the 28 member states that make up the European Union.

Recently, after its hard-line position during the Greek bailout talks, many accused Germany of bullying a country already enduring an economic crisis. Some Europeans are asking if Germany has become too powerful in the European Union. CCTV’s Guy Henderson filed this report on Germany’s rise to power in the EU.
