Work on Asia’s largest mountainous suspension bridge has begun

Construction work on a suspension bridge over the Longjiang River in Southwest China’s Yunnan province has begun, as workers installed the bridge’s first box girder on Thursday.

The 2,470-kilometer-long (1535 miles) bridge will be Asia’s largest suspension bridge located in a mountainous area, according to people.cn. It is scheduled to open next June and will save locals half an hour of travel time between the cities of Tengchong and Baoshan.
