South Korean entertainers noticed internationally at K-Con

South Korean artist PSY and his Gangnam-style captured the attention of most of the world. But the artist is not the only South Korean gaining a global fan base. More than 55,000 fans gathered for the fourth annual K-Con event in Los Angeles. It’s a three day celebration of all things South Korea.

  • Hallyu began more than 10 years ago when Korean Dramas and K-Pop music gained popularity outside of South Korea. Who can forget pop star PSY and his record-breaking hit in 2012: Gangnam Style.
  • The South Korea government’s goal is to increase its culture and media budget to $7 billion by 2017 or about 2 percent of its overall budget. That would make South Korea second only to France when it comes to cultural spending.
