Earlier this month the Thai baht fell to its lowest level against the US dollar for six years at 33 point seven five. The currency has continued to lose ground against the dollar because of dim economic forecasts for Thailand. Even much vaunted stock market gains earlier in the year have been wiped off share prices as the weak baht continued its fall and foreign investors pulled out of the Thai market. But a weak currency has also failed to boost exports as many hoped it would. CCTV’s Tony Cheng filed this report.
