China’s Premier Li Keqiang and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala met in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on Friday. Peru was the third country visited by Premier Li in a four-country tour of Latin America as the Asian giant looks to strengthen ties with resource-rich South America. CCTV’s Dan Collyns filed this report from Lima.
Rich cultural ties between China and Peru
Peru is the South American country with – proportionately – the largest ethnic-Chinese population. It also has a history with asia immigrants, stretching back more than 150 years. Experts estimate up to one-tenth of Peruvians could have Asian heritage. The descendants of those first immigrants have left their mark, especially in the capital’s Chinatown. CCTV’s Dan Collyns filed this report.
