Scots will go to the polls Thursday in a historic vote to determine whether their country will become independent from the United Kingdom.

MORE SCOTLAND COVERAGE ON CCTV AMERICA.

The vote will be historic, after 307 years of Scotland’s union with the U.K. British Prime Minister David Cameron said, “Independence would not be a trial separation. It would be a painful divorce.”

On this edition of The Heat, Scots on both sides of the issue will give their input.

CCTV America’s Richard Bestic joins the show from Edinburgh.

Actor and Scottish independence supporter Brian Cox joined for more on the referendum.

John Struthers, an economics professor at the University of the West of Scotland, joined The Heat. He is opposed to Scottish independence.

A supporter of Scottish independence, political strategist Robin McAlpine also joined the discussion.

Global correspondent Simon Marks joined The Heat to talk more about the stakes for the United Kingdom in this matter.
